10% of the time I have a terminal open in Windows it's PowerShell, and the other 90% of the time it's Ubuntu bash.īecause of the inability to run my Linux apps in Windows, I now run an Ubuntu VM alongside my Windows VM. I have been using Windows for most of the Linux stuff I run. WSL1 crashes 100% of the time for me, as well (I'm guessing there are fixes or workaround for this). I cannot enable nested virtualization in Parallels. I cannot enable any of its virtualization to get things like WSL2 or Android apps working. However, when setting up Windows, I noticed a few things not working. Luckily, it seems like everything I need works just fine on Windows 11 ARM in a VM. I even mentally prepared myself to accept that I'd have to keep an old PC at my desk in case I needed it to run something I couldn't on my Mac. When switching to M1/ARM, I had some concerns that I'd lose the ability to do everything I needed to do. And Windows (either through Boot Camp or VM) allowed me to run whatever was necessary. There are a few things that I still need Windows for every now and then. UTM Run virtual machines on iOS Emulate any Processor 30+ processors supported by qemu including x8664, ARM64, and RISC-V Run any Operating System Windows, Linux, and more natively and securely on iOS within an App Fast Emulation Para-virtualization with SPICE and JIT compilation with TCG High Compatibility iOS 11+ supported. Heck, some of the stuff I use to do when I first started my job required macOS (some old OS X Server stuff), so my primary system at work has always been a MacBook Pro. I can get virtually all of my work done just fine on macOS.
